Welcome to Dragon's Lair, a site dedicated to Delphi Game programming. I created this site because I know how hard it is to find Delphi resources and tutorial pertaining to video game programming. On this site you will find tutorials, downloads, and updates on my own Delphi projects as well as links I have found helpful. You can also join the ever growing Dragon's Lair community and share your knowledge with others around you. I hope you enjoy this site!

- We've enlisted the expert help of the great folks at Oblivion to help out with the textures, tiles, sprites and assorted graphics. It's a real pleasure working with such highly esteemed authors.
- Dragon's Fire has gone some great changes. No real screenshots, but I want to get ver2.0 ready for any new tiles given to us by our partners Oblivion.
- OK, responding to the e-mails, it IS true that our RPG is getting it's own website. The project has really overflowed beyond the boundaries of just me, and I think that it will grown exceptionally large if we give it the room to. Don't expect it's move for some time, though.

- Dragon's Fire gaming engine is being fitted for Event Builder 1.2, which will allow users to define where and what happens in their RPG. It will be a point and click interface, much like the map builder.
- MapGen ver2.0 is also under construction. This new release will allow users to edit multiple maps simultaneously. It will have advanced features and numerous bug fixes. If you have any suggestions, contact me.

- Production on Battle Axe has resumed, with a minor beta that is not currently available. The minor beta recognizes customizable characters and enemies, attacks, and ranging weather patterns and conditions. It sports an active battle timer and a few other options. Public release of a stand-alone version of battle axe is questionable. I might just package it directly with Dragon's Fire and the engine instead of complicating things with a third program.
- Dragon's Fire 2.0 is also undergoing some major breakthroughs. This version will include "Event Builder 1.0" which allows you to add messages when the player steps in a certain area. This includes dialog from speaker as well as system messages. The dialog is FULLY customizable using the Dialog Editor packaged with Dragon's Fire. See here for a picture and description of the dialog box. It will also include a fully operating "Phinn" sprite collection and accelerator keys. I've made a function called "Trigger" which will load up the dialog box with all the required fields filled in through the parameters listing. This will allow me to quickly and easily load up event dialogs.
- I've been working on DF2.0 all day today, and I've hit a major setback. I have the events all set up, but I am looking for a more efficient way to feed the engine which maps have events where. My original design was flawed. It looks like I'm going to have to scrap about three hours of work and start from scratch again. Ah sera sera! Thats the life of a programmer. Keep you posted.

- Dragon's Fire 1.2 is almost complete, and now is fully comparable with the 12 new tiles!
- Later today the latest installment of Serpent SDK will be released.
- Major problems have been met with Battle Axe and The Breeding Pit, don't hold your breath in anticipation of these programs to come out. It may be a while.

- Well, everybody seems to think that my tiles are bad. And since there has been a total lack of effort in the tile forging respect (except for good ol' Alex) then I made twelve new tiles including: Grass2, Silverish Rock, Goldish Rock, Marble, Concrete, Brick, Dirt, Vertical River, Horizontal River, Green Water, Green Metal
- I have edited MapGen1.2 to support all these new tiles. You can check out a screenshot over at the projects page. The Screenshot #2 will show you a map containing all twelve types of tiles. Of course you will be able to create better looking maps, but now they are at your disposal.
- MapGen and Dragon's Fire 1.2 aren't going to be released only because updates to Dragon's Fire are required before it will be compatible with the new programs. I hope to have them out sometime next week.

- MapGen1.2 contains lots of new additions, including a Real Time Cursor position overlay, Right click for quicker access to images and commands, Initialization updated, Tile type display added, "Fill Map" Command added, and much more.
- Dragon's Fire has also received some work, catering to the complaint of faulty rendering. Supposedly, Dragon's Fire would produce "Black Holes" if the hardware wasn't fast enough. I added some code which should help, but since I haven't experienced these problems, I can't be sure anything was fixed.
- Neither of these two programs will be released until more tiles are submitted to be used by the engines.
- DelphiX added to the downloads section. DelphiX is a set of components which allows Delphi to access DirectX functions such as DirectDraw and DirectSound. I'm personally not too clear on it's exact usage, but I'm currently toying with it and learning for myself. Please add any links you may know of in our links page.
